]]>Ashley & Lauren, how did you met?
Like many couples we know we met online
Who proposed and how?
I (Ashley) proposed to Lauren while on a private sunset catamaran cruise in the British Virgin Islands. Romantic right?
Why did you decide to elope instead of having a wedding in the States? What challenges did you face?
We decided to elope in Bora to insure that day was about us and us only. We do love our family and friends but we didn’t want any distractions or have to worry about anyone else other than ourselves on our special day. And our biggest challenge was, of course eloping in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic (lol).
What made you pick Bora Bora for your elopement?
Bora Bora is one of the most beautiful places we have seen in pictures and has been a bucket list travel destination for us for years. That's why we thought it would be the perfect place to get married... and it did not disappoint!
What was your favorite part of your wedding day in Bora Bora and why?
Being able to stand up in front of each other, look each other in the eyes and say our vows of commitment knowing that I was not only marrying the love of my life but my best friend as well. That was very powerful.
Any interesting facts about your wedding that you'd like to share?
We weren’t very traditional when it came to getting ready for our wedding. We actually went wedding dress shopping together and picked out our dresses with each other. We stayed in the same room together the night before the wedding ceremony instead of sleeping separately and we actually got ready (hair and make-up) together the day of our wedding. We wanted our wedding to be about us and make it what we wanted so we broke the traditional rules and enjoyed being with and supporting each other through every step of the process.
Let's talk about fashion! What designers did you pick for your wedding dresses.
Lauren wore Kitty Chen and I (Ashley) wore Soterro & Midgley
Do you have any advice for couples planning their elopements in Bora Bora?
Do a lot of research, use wedding planners on-site, ask for lots of pictures of the location and decor, and ultimately, don’t settle for anything less than what you want on your wedding day. This is one of the most important days of your life so make it about you and try to tune out other people’s input that isn’t needed or wanted. Remember that this special day is about you as a couple and you are the ones making the rules!

]]>Sarah & Steven, how did you guys met?
We met through friends at a small get-together on a Monday night.
How did Steven propose?
He planned a fancy dinner out and proposed on the roof of the parking garage at sunset. He even had our friend who is a photographer there to capture the moment!
Why did you decide to elope? What was your biggest challenge during the planning process?
We decided to elope because we really wanted the main focus to be the two of us. Our biggest challenge was talking our families into the idea.
What made you pick Bora Bora for your elopement?
Easy! We just wanted to get married in the most beautiful place on earth
What was your favorite part of your wedding day and why?
Every minute was PERFECT! We can't stop talking about how perfect everything was. But, if we had to pick, we really enjoyed our "first look". The bride was brought to the chapel in a white canoe covered in flowers to meet her groom on the beach. It was really romantic!
Any interesting facts about your wedding that you'd like to share?
He surprised me with diamond earrings the night before the wedding and I surprised him with memorial cuff links in memory of his father.
Let's talk about fashion! How did you both choose your wedding day look?
The bride wore a strappy A-line Allure bridal gown. The top had just enough sparkle before connecting a delicate and airy crepe chiffon skirt with daring slits on either side. The groom wore a custom tan linen suit with all dark chocolate brown accessories.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their elopements in Bora Bora? Do you have any wedding planning advice that you'd like to share with other couples planning their day?
If you can talk your families into it, it's so worth it! We have zero regrets, it was truly a perfect week!

Recently renovated (2020) Le Bora Bora (ex Pearl Beach) is a nice option for your trip in Bora Bora while maintaining a budget. Different kinds of overwater bungalows (all renovated) are available. A few of them even offer a pool. The resort also has plenty of garden villas, nested in a beautiful tropical garden.
The resort also offers several restaurants, a spa, a gym & a tennis court but the asset of the resort is the main beach. On the morning the colors of the lagoon are amazing!
But enough talking, you clicked to see pictures right?
So you’ll find below our 5 favorite spots for your photoshoot at the Le Bora Bora (Pearl Beach).
No photoshoot at Le Bora Bora could be complete without taking some pictures on the main beach. White sand + palmtrees + mountain view + overwater bungalows on the background = The perfect Bora Bora postcard!

We like to start (or finish) our photoshoot at Le Bora Bora with some pictures on your overwater bungalow! In the morning the different blue shades are absolutely amazing! And if you feel like it, it's also the perfect place for a jump in the water!

For a totally different atmosphere let's head to the tropical gardens & coconut fields, on the back of the resort. The tropical plants, the ponds with lotus flowers and the traditional huts will definitely add some jungle mood to your photoshoot at Le Bora Bora.

Just a little stop on our way to the main beach. The bridges with the coral garden or the view on the mountain is very nice!

And last but no least you'll find this massive overwater deck at the end of one of the branch. We really like it for wide angles & symétrique shots. Do you like it too?

For your photoshoot at Le Bora Bora we would recommend to shoot on the morning (between 9AM & 11AM). The colors of the lagoon are the real asset of the resort and those shades are showing at their best on the morning.
Sunset photoshoots are also possible of course and sometimes the colors of the sky are quite spectacular BUT be aware that the water won’t look that blue. If the iconic vibrant blue color of the lagoon is the most important to you then we suggest shooting in the morning
All spots are suitable for morning or sunset**. It’s just about the atmosphere, the colors you like better !
In any case, it’s always better to avoid shooting in the middle of the afternoon: it’s very hot, the light is way too harsh and the best photo spots (the main beach especially) can get busy.
** Except for pictures underwater. We need enough light for it so we’ll have to shoot in the morning.
